Heuristic evolving latent projections: resolving two-way multicomponent data. 1. Selectivity, latent-projective graph, datascope, local rank, and unique resolution

OM Kvalheim, YZ Liang - Analytical Chemistry, 1992 - ACS Publications
Heuristic evolving latent projections (HELP) are proposed as a new method to resolve two-
way bilinear multicomponent data Into spectra and chromatograms of the pure constituents.
The method Is founded on four elements:(I) the use of the so-called zero-component regions
In order to establish the detection limit for the chemical species,(II) the use of la-tent-
projectlve graphs (datascope) to reveal selective (onecomponent) chromatographic and/or
spectral regions,(III) local rank analysis In order to check the selectivity of the regions found …

Heuristic evolving latent projections: resolving two-way multicomponent data. 2. Detection and resolution of minor constituents

YZ Liang, OM Kvalheim, HR Keller… - Analytical …, 1992 - ACS Publications
The new method of heuristic evolving latent projections (HELP) Is used for the resolution of
two-component mixtures of Isomers characterized by Iquid chromatography with dode array
detection. Four mixtures of drug Isomers were analyzed with chromatographic resolutions of
0.2 and 0.5, and the minor component was present In 2 and 10%. Despite the very similar
spectra of the Isomers, the new method was able to resolve unambiguously all the mixtures
Into spectra and concentration profiles of the pure components. In compari-son, thereference …
