Knowledge of functional vascular anatomy and recognition of the “dangerous anastomoses”
between the external carotid artery and the intracranial circulation are stressed. Technical
aspects of embolization are surveyed. The authors' approach to some of the more common
lesions such as paragangliomas, congenital vascular lesions, epistaxis, juvenile
