An attempt was made to determine land capability, soil irrigability and land suitability for
different crops of the soils under 48A Distibutary of Malaprabha Right Bank Command
(MRBC) in Karnataka. Detailed soil survey information was used for this exercise. The soils
were classified at family level as very fine, smectitic, calcareous, isohyperthermic, Typic
