Hydro-meteorological related disasters have been known to be costly for governments and non-governmental organizations. This paper proposes a remote flood monitoring system (FDMS) that has the ability to detect water level rise and display real-time data thereby assisting in mitigating flood disasters at flood hot spot areas. Existing Web technologies are used in FDMS development to reduce flood mitigation costs. With the benefit of using LoRa technology, FDMS exports lightweight data in real-time. The responsible authorities like the National Disaster Management Center (NDMC) can simply set the parameters with the proposed FDMS and automatically let the system to alert the community at large nationwide or the NDMC stake holders for further preparedness and mitigation. Our solution provides the responsible authorities for effective flood management with the visual representation of data in realtime, allowing them to understand pattern and holistic view of the situation, and act accordingly.
