Reducing time to market in spite of increasing the system’s functionality and reuse of software on different platforms increase the need for revising the development methodologies for smart card based applications. The Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is a design methodology addressing these emerging requirements. This paper proposes a model driven framework for the development of smart card application. This framework allows developers to model the system in a high level modeling language without considering the target platform. The proposed framework transforms platform independent models to platform specific models which are closer to implementation and finally transform the models to executable source code, automatically. Furthermore, we describe the design and implementation of the proposed framework.
