Abstract
This paper presents a metamaterial (MTM) based textile microstrip patch antenna operating at a 2.45 GHz ISM band. To realize the wearability and flexibility of the proposed antenna, polyester fabric has been selected as a substrate for the patch antenna and felt fabric for the MTM unit cell. A split ring resonator (SRR) structure has been chosen for the design of the MTM unit cell. The simulated results demonstrated that the proposed antenna achieves a high gain of 6 dB with a low specific absorption rate (SAR) of 0.4295 W/Kg, making it suitable for wearable medical applications.
