Molecular characterization of multidrug-and extensively drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains in Jiangxi, China

X Yuan, T Zhang, K Kawakami, J Zhu, H Li… - Journal of clinical …, 2012 - Am Soc Microbiol
In this study, a total of 77 multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant (MDR and XDR,
respectively) isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis were characterized among samples
from patients living in Jiangxi province, China. The following two approaches were used:(i)
genotyping all drug-resistant isolates by the 15-locus MIRU-VNTR (mycobacterial
interspersed repetitive-unit–variable-number tandem-repeat) method and identifying the
Beijing family genotype using the RD105 deletion targeted multiplex PCR and (ii) …

[PDF][PDF] Molecular characterization of multidrug and extensive drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates from Iran

H Kazemian, J Kardan-Yamchi, N Mosavari… - Infez Med, 2019 - infezmed.it
SUMMARY MDR and XDR isolates were grouped into 13 clusters. The largest cluster
(cluster 3) contained 48.4%(n= 16) of all isolates. Clusters 1, 4, and 6 included 2, 4, and 2
isolates, respectively. Two isolates were in cluster 7, one was H37Rv standard strain, which
was used as a control strain in this study, and eight isolates were placed in single clusters.
This study provides information about molecular epidemiology of MDR-TB in Iran. The
alarming increase in the incidence of MDR isolates, especially Beijing strains, raises …
