Misfolding of human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) into insoluble aggregates is
associated with Type 2 diabetes. It has been suggested that hIAPP toxicity may be due to its
accumulation in pancreatic islets, causing membrane disruption and cell permeabilization,
