Applications of multimodal information in telecommunications are discussed in this paper. The immersive teleconferencing system intended for registration, transmission and reproduction of multimodal information is discussed. This multimodal information includes 3D graphical data, surround sound data, and environmental data (temperature, air humidity, olfactory data, etc.). The analysis of existing hardware and standards for representation and processing of multimodal data is presented. The technology readiness level of the immersive teleconferencing system is evaluated and discussed.
