Suicide, including firearm suicide, remains a substantial public health concern in the United
States. During the previous 2 decades, overall suicide rates and firearm suicide rates have
risen by approximately one third, approaching 50,000 overall suicides during 2022,
including approximately 27,000 firearm suicides (1). Firearm suicides account for
