This study investigates the behavior of a maraging steel during flowdrilling. Recently, this modern, efficient and ecological method of drilling has been rapidly developed. However until now, large scale industrial application is retarded by the lack of knowledge about optimized parameters for most materials. Maraging steels are age hardened steels with good weldability and machinability, therefore it is expected to obtain good results in flow drilling, too. In this research, flowdrilling conditions were modified in order to study relevant factors that influence the quality of flowdrilled holes. Beside flowdrill machining parameters, shape and thickness of the workpiece, flowdrilling of maraging steels was tested in dry, air cooling and water cooling conditions.
