This paper seeks to examine whether and how party autonomy is provided in the regulation
of cross-border marriages and the patrimonial consequences thereof. It particularly focuses
on the Private International Law sector of international jurisdiction to analyse the rules
dealing with a marital breakdown and the most relevant financial consequences, such as the
establishment of maintenance obligations and the dissolution and liquidation of the
matrimonial property regime.
Abstract
