This article discusses about the social problems faced by the Malay community. It is becoming a inevitability in the context of the country to address as we are heading into an era of development and achieving a developed country status. Therefore, the role of the family is the most basic component of the process of the formation of the society and the nation as a whole. The article suggested that education made the most basic mechanism to develop generations and thus contribute to the development of the country. In addition, the teachings of Islam in the Qur'an and hadith have contained so much on the role of parents, the importance of education and development of the ummah.

ABSTRAK

Artikel ini membincangkan tentang permasalahan sosial yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat Melayu. Hal ini menjadi suatu keperluan untuk ditangani dalam konteks negara kita sedang menuju ke era pembangunan dan mencapai status negara maju. Justeru itu, peranan keluarga adalah komponen yang paling asas dalam proses pembentukan masyarakat dan negara keseluruhannya. Artikel ini mencadangkan agar pendidikan dijadikan perkara yang paling asas untuk membangunkan umat dan seterusnya menyumbang kepada pembangunan negara. Tambahan pula, ajaran agama Islam yang terkandung dalam kitab al-Qur’ an dan hadith begitu banyak memuatkan tentang peranan ibu bapa, kepentingan pendidikan dan pembangunan ummah
