Clubfoot is a complex musculoskeletal congenital deformity which can be treated by applying an orthosis on the clubfoot of a newborn baby. The biomechanical assessment of the natural clubfoot is required for the proper design of the orthosis. But it is not always feasible to conduct experiments on the natural clubfoot of an infant, so a technique to produce a replica of the natural clubfoot by imitating soft tissue and bones of the natural clubfoot has been demonstrated in this study. Computerised tomography (CT) scan data of the clubfoot of a newborn baby was operated on MIMICS and MAGICS software to create a composite model of the clubfoot. The known mechanical properties of the natural clubfoot were compared with mechanical properties of the composite clubfoot model and it was validated that this technique may be extended to develop a composite clubfoot model which provides the equivalent mechanical properties of the natural clubfoot.
