An accurate and reliable estimation of the remaining energy and, as a consequence, of the available travelling distance is one of the key factors that allows drivers to consciously take advantage of their electric vehicle (EV). The present paper describes the application of a previously-defined model for EVs batteries to estimate on line the available range. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology, which has been designed in order to use a reduced set of measurements, has been validated on a real Lithium-ion cell simulating three different EVs under two different temperatures and with two standard test driving cycles.
