The 8th season of excavation at the Early Bronze Age (hereafter “EBA') site of Titris Höyük in
the Upper Euphrates basin of southeastern Anatolia (ca. 45 km north of Şanlıurfa) was
conducted from July 15 to August 25, 1999." Previous work at the site has shown that Titris
was a small urban center that flourished along an important trade route focused on the
historical Euphrates River crossing point at Samsat during the Middle (ca. 2.700-2400 BC)
and Late (ca. 2400/2300-2200/2, 100 BC) phases of the EBA (Algaze et al. 1992, 1995 …
