Sensitivity analysis of ballasted railway tracks design criteria were carried out in this research. These criteria cover rail deflections, rail bending stresses, rail wheel contact stresses, sleeper bending moments, and ballast sleeper contact pressures. There are different components in track design criteria, each with their own specific characteristics, whose interconnections influence the track design criteria and make its procedure more complicated. Thus, the possible effects of each of the parameters of the tracks and rolling stocks on track design criteria should be identified to simplify the track design approach. In so doing, track modulus, sleeper spacing, train speed and axle load were investigated as the features being affected by the parameters in tracks and rolling stocks. The changes in the track and rolling stock parameters against various track design criteria were presented graphically and their roles in the design of railway track were clarified. Further, the impacts of the parameters of each of the tracks and rolling stocks on the behaviors of track systems were explained along with those of design criteria. The obtained graphs facilitate understanding track behaviors and applying conventional track design approach.
