Abstract
Simultaneous measurement of temperature and strain for a polymer-based composite sample is presented in this article. A π-phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating (π-PSFBG) sensor, as an accurate and sensitive optical FBG sensor, is used for simultaneously measuring the strain and temperature of this sample in a fixed cantilever configuration. The central peak wavelength shift of the transmission spectrum of the π-PSFBG’s Bragg wavelength and its power are used as indicators of strain and temperature of the sample. As a result, the temperature and strain with the sensitivities of 14.15 pm/°C and are obtained, respectively.
