Summary
Remnants of 348 prey were collected at the locality of the Eagle Owi in the Bystrzyckie Mts. Mammals, represented by 20 species, constituted 95.9% prey, and birds-only 4.1%(6 species). The common vole (Microtus arvalis) was most often caught (57.5%-200 specimens), folIowed by the water vole (Arvicola terrestris)(13.8%-48 specimens), the genus Sylvaemus(8.3%-29 specimens) and both species of hedgehog (Erinaceus sp.)(6%-21 specimens). The presence of synanthropic(house mouse, rat) and domestic (hen) species among the prey indicates that the Eagle Owi forages within a radius of at least 2 km. The Alpine shrew (Sorex alpinlIs) was 1'ound in its food for the first time.
