Abstract The North Anatolian Fault (NAF), a major continental plate boundary,
accommodates the motion be-tween Eurasia and Anatolia with right-lateral strike-slip
motion. Shallow aseismic slip has first been identified on the Ismetpasa segment of the NAF
in 1970 (cf. Ambraseys, 1970), and has been observed more recently as postseismic slip
after the M7. 6 Izmit earthquake. Several studies (eg Çakir et al., 2012; Hussain et al., 2016;
