Unlike the conventional spin Hall effect of light (SHEL) originating from the light-matter
interaction, the spin-dependent splitting in the geometric SHEL is purely a geometric effect
and independent from the properties of matter. Here it is shown that the geometric SHEL is
not only of fundamental theoretical interest in understanding the spin-orbit interaction of
