The stratigraphic record, distribution and composition of the selachian genus Lissodus is
briefly reviewed. 38 species are currently recognised, with 26 further records not designated
to species level. Teeth of the genus have been found in marine, brackish and freshwater
deposits and range from Famennian (Late Devonian) to Maastrichtian (Late Cretaceous)
sediments. Teeth originally described as Lissodus bartheli WERNER, 1989 from the upper
Cenomanian (Late Cretaceous) of Egypt are removed to the new genus Bahariyodon and …

Teeth of the genus have been found in marine, brackish and freshwater deposits and range from Famennian (Late Devonian) to Maastrichtian (Late Cretaceous) sediments. Teeth originally described as Lissodus bartheli WERNER, 1989 from the upper Cenomanian (Late Cretaceous) of Egypt are removed to the new genus Bahariyodon and tentatively placed together with Steinbachodus in the hybodont family Steinbachodontidae.
