aryl-2, 6-dimethyl-1, 4-dihydro-3, 5-pyridinedicarboxylates 1 and a variant leading to 4, 4-
dialkyl-2, 6-dimethyl-1, 4-dihydro-3, 5-pyridinedicarbonitriles 2. In comparison with the
traditional reflux method, similar or higher yields were obtained.
