Background and objectives: Children and adolescents with chronic kidney disease (CKD)
are at high risk for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. A systemic arteriopathy and
cardiomyopathy has been characterized in pediatric dialysis patients by the presence of
morphologic and functional abnormalities.
