The decision as to whether to retain or extract a single remaining natural tooth prior to the
provision of dentures can be a difficult one. If the tooth is left in situ, the development of an
adequate peripheral seal around the denture is not possible thereby compromising the

The use of such a design can enhance the retention of the appliance by encircling the lone standing tooth/teeth utilising an elastomeric permanent soft lining material.
