The catabolism of tryptophan to immunosuppressive and neuroactive kynurenines is a key
metabolic pathway regulating immune responses and neurotoxicity. The rate-limiting step is
controlled by indoleamine-2, 3-dioxygenase (IDO) and tryptophan-2, 3-dioxygenase (TDO).
