Two-dimensional screw lattice crystal with alternating “surface” structure of the side rows. Equilibrium forms

D Nenow, V Stoyanova - Journal of crystal growth, 1997 - Elsevier
A two-dimensional screw lattice (2DSL), constructed by blocks—quadrumers of screw
ordered building elements—is proposed as a model of a crystal with an alternating structure.
The forces acting between nearest neighbour building elements are taken into account. The
lattice energy is determined using repeatable quadrumer steps. The possible equilibrium
forms of such 2DSL crystal with different (10)-side rows (“surface”) structure and the
conditions of their coexistence are discussed.
