Abstract
Different genetic parameters were estimated to assess the magnitude of genetic variation in 81 diverse Indian mustard genotypes in Karnataka, India. The analysis of variance indicated the prevalence of sufficient genetic variation among the genotypes for all 10 characters studied. Genotypic coefficient of variation, estimates of variability, heritability values and genetic gain were moderate to high for 1000-seed weight, number of siliquae per plant and number of secondary branches per plant, indicating that the response to selection would be very high for these yield components. For the other characters, low coefficient of variation, medium to low heritability and low genetic gain were observed.
